Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil Requiem, the ninth mainline installment in its iconic survival horror series, during the Summer Game Fest 2025. Scheduled for release on February 27, 2026, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Resident Evil Requiem introduces players to a new protagonist, FBI agent Grace Ashcroft, who is investigating a series of mysterious deaths at the Remwood Hotel—the same location where her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, was murdered eight years prior. Alyssa Ashcroft is a character from the 2004 title Resident Evil Outbreak, and her connection to Grace adds a layer of depth to the narrative.

The game’s trailer showcases a return to the franchise’s roots, with scenes set in a devastated Raccoon City, including the iconic police department. The city, previously destroyed by a nuclear strike to contain the T-virus outbreak, now serves as a haunting backdrop for Grace’s investigation.

Capcom describes Resident Evil Requiem as a blend of psychological horror and high-stakes cinematic action. The game utilizes the latest version of the RE Engine, delivering lifelike character expressions, realistic textures, and immersive environments.

While the trailer focuses on Grace Ashcroft, reports suggest that series veteran Leon S. Kennedy will also play a significant role in the game. However, Capcom has not confirmed the extent of his involvement.

Resident Evil Requiem is set to continue the franchise’s legacy, offering a fresh yet familiar experience for fans. A playable demo will be available at Gamescom 2025, providing an early glimpse into the game’s mechanics and story.
