Honkai: Nexus Anima beta test is live and here is how to join

HoYoverse has announced its newest game, Honkai: Nexus Anima, and the first closed beta test is already live. The test, called the Nexus Bond Test, runs from August 29 to September 12, 2025.

The game has been compared to Pokémon because it involves collecting creatures, called Anima, but the gameplay is quite different. Instead of turn-based battles, Nexus Anima uses a combat system similar to auto battlers like Auto Chess or Teamfight Tactics. Players can also interact with their Anima in other ways, including racing games, shooting beach balls, and even smashing office buildings.

Customization is another big feature. Players can design their own character, play as different characters, and even ride Anima to travel through the world. It blends collection mechanics with exploration and mini-games, making it more varied than traditional creature-collecting titles.

To join the beta, players need to visit the official Honkai: Nexus Anima website, click Join Test, and log in with a HoYoverse account. After that, a short questionnaire asks about your device, other games you play, and your gaming spending habits. Once completed, applicants must wait to see if they are selected. Invitations are sent by email.

The beta is available only on PC and iOS, and currently supports English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. HoYoverse has said more languages will be added later. Test progress will not carry over to the final version.

There is no release date yet for the full game, but with testing underway, more details should arrive soon. For now, this closed beta offers the first look at HoYoverse’s unique spin on the creature-collecting genre.
