Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Digital Eclipse have officially revealed the final lineup for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, confirming several long-lost titles and rare versions of the iconic fighting series. The collection, set for release in 2025, brings together more than a decade of Mortal Kombat history, spanning from the franchise’s 1992 debut to handheld Game Boy Advance entries.

The biggest surprise is the inclusion of the WaveNet edition of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, a version that has not been playable since it appeared briefly in arcades in 1997. Originally developed to showcase Midway’s short-lived WaveNet online matchmaking system, the edition was notable as the only arcade release to feature Noob Saibot as a selectable character. Digital Eclipse has now preserved and emulated this version for the first time, marking a historic moment for fans and gaming historians alike.

The Kollection also adds two PlayStation-era titles that have been difficult to access for decades: Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero (1997) and Mortal Kombat Special Forces (2000). Alongside those, Warner Bros. confirmed Mortal Kombat Trilogy (1996), newly optimized for modern platforms with faster load times, making gameplay smoother than ever.

In total, the Legacy Kollection includes 11 games:

  • Mortal Kombat (1992) – Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear
  • Mortal Kombat II (1993) – Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, 32X
  • Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) – Arcade, SNES, Genesis
  • Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (1995) – Arcade, WaveNet Arcade, SNES
  • Mortal Kombat Trilogy (1996) – PlayStation
  • Mortal Kombat 4 (1997) – Arcade
  • Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero (1997) – PlayStation
  • Mortal Kombat Special Forces (2000) – PlayStation
  • Mortal Kombat Advance (2001) – Game Boy Advance
  • Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance (2002) – Game Boy Advance
  • Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition (2003) – Game Boy Advance

To make these classics more accessible, the collection includes new features designed for both long-time fans and new players. A Rewind function allows players to retry fights instantly, while on-screen move lists and a new Trainer mode make learning characters easier. There is also a Fatality Trainer, giving players the chance to practice the franchise’s signature finishing moves without the pressure of a match.

Digital and physical versions of Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will be widely available. The digital release is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with a launch date to be announced later. Physical copies for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2 are scheduled to ship on December 12, 2025.

With its mix of rare titles, modern updates, and long-requested features, the Legacy Kollection is shaping up to be the most comprehensive way to experience Mortal Kombat’s early history. For many fans, it will be the first chance to revisit versions of the franchise that have been lost for decades.
