Capcom, Aniplex, and JOYCITY have announced Resident Evil: Survival Unit, a new real-time strategy game coming to iOS and Android. The game reimagines the survival horror series for mobile devices and will launch across North America, Europe, Japan, South Korea, and Asia.
Described as a tactical twist on the Resident Evil universe, the game is being built specifically for mobile platforms, with input from Capcom to ensure it stays true to the series. It’s co-developed by JOYCITY, known for mobile hits like Gunship Battle, and marks a first for the franchise in the real-time strategy genre.
A digital showcase revealing more about the game will stream on July 10 at 3 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. ET on YouTube in English and Japanese. Gameplay footage, mechanics, and other features are expected to be shown during the event.
While no release date has been confirmed, the project is part of Capcom’s broader push into mobile, alongside recent ports of Resident Evil 4 Remake and Village on iOS. Reactions from fans have been mixed, with some expressing interest in the format shift and others cautious about mobile monetization.
The announcement comes just months after Capcom revealed Resident Evil: Requiem, the next mainline entry arriving in early 2026. With Survival Unit, the company aims to expand its audience by offering a new way to experience the series.
