Mobile devices are the number 1 platform for gaming nowadays so it’s about time that I list down games that you should try today. We’ll start with the free online games that might be worthy of your time. Read more to find out!
Author’s Note: This list does not include games such as Mobile Legends, Arena of Valor, PUBG Mobile, Rules of Survival, and the like as these games are already too common for anyone not to know. I focused more on newer titles that just hit the market.

Pets Race is an arcade-type racing game that uses different animals, mainly cats and dogs, as avatars to compete against other players in real time. The game mechanics are similar to Mario Kart where players can get items and use them as weapons to slow down their competitors. The cartoonish and cutesy graphics of the game are one of the main factors which make it appealing. However, the most important factor for me is that it can be played by anyone regardless of their age. The controls are simple and can easily be understood, which is always a plus for casual players.

Ever get tired of playing Clash of Clans but don’t want to stray away from this type of game genre? Well, Rise of Civilizations provides that similar addicting appeal but offers a slightly new mechanic. I am aware of other strategy games but this one struck my interest the most. While its resource, building, and troop management are identical to other games out there, it uses certain types of iconic characters from history as the leaders of each troop which makes it really interesting.
The battle system is pretty simplistic compared to COC but the true appeal is the intensity of alliance (clans) competition, where a band of people expand and conquer lands also occupied by other alliances. You’d be surprised by how tight the distances of each player are to one another.

Genre: Role Playing
Platform: Android, iOS
Dragalia Lost is Nintendo’s first mobile RPG game which explains the hype when it was first announced. One major appeal of this game is the story. Since the company is known for producing games with excellent story-depth, I advise that players shouldn’t skip the dialogues to fully feel how well-crafted this game is.
As for the game mechanic, it uses the Gacha system for the characters, pieces of equipment, attribute cards (Wyrmprints), and dragon transformations. Yes, you can turn into a dragon in this game which should be obvious due to its name. Battles are intense as you will need a strategy to navigate your characters using touch and swipe controls (for dodging) or you can just ignore all that and just plow through the mission by using the auto-attack function. Be warned though, while the AI is continuously being improved they really only do auto-attacks and rarely dodge enemies.
Author’s Note: This game is available in the US region, for now, however, you can download the game by following our guide on how to create an account in different regions here. Just make sure to change your region to the US instead of Japan.

Who wouldn’t want to try one of the most classic video games that mostly awakened our passion for playing MMORPGs, right? Well, this is the right time to rejoice as the classic RuneScape is now at the palm of our hands. What’s good is that it retains the same game mechanics of the desktop version. What’s even better is it’s cross-platform which means that you can play with others whether on your desktop or mobile.
Be warned again though, the game uses really old and classic mechanics, meaning the quality of life improvements we’ve seen in modern games (auto-pathing, quest marking on the minimap, stacking of items in the bag, and others) are missing. This is truly the hardcore MMORPG experience, oh not to mention dying is really punishing as you lose all but three of your most valuable items (based on the game’s rarity system). For new players, Classic RuneScape lets you decide on which path you want to choose as there are no classes just skills, so go ahead and give it a try!

Publisher: Gravity Interactive Inc.
Genre: Role Playing
Platform: Android, iOS
Ragnarok M: Eternal Love is Gravity’s latest official mobile game that retains a majority of the classic Ragnarok elements with new interesting twists. Anyone who was exposed with this franchise’s influence over the years would have already played and experienced this game upon its first release in the SEA region (Chinese version from a year ago).
The game features the classic classes, skills, items, monsters, PvE, and PvP mechanics that we all know and love. To cope with the mobile gaming needs, the game also features an auto-attack system with time restrictions to prevent grinding abuse. I’ve already made a leveling guide to give you an idea and headstart on what to do. I highly recommend that you play this game especially when you are hungry for that nostalgia vibes and really because it’s a well-rounded and crafted port of a well-known classic.

Wow do I love this game Rise of Civilizations. Decided to give it a try when all the YouTube promos went out after iOS release. Over five months later I’m still playing every day and enjoying it. Graphics are clean. Game runs well and has good mechanics. Mixture of farming/upgrading/strategy/teamwork is wonderful. Very social game as well. Have I said enough about how much I love this game? Because the pay to win model, whether intentional or not, earns you a single beautiful star. #gamehoy
