The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Pacific Stage 2 Finals is turning into a historic moment for Southeast Asia. For the first time since the league began in 2023, all three top teams are from the region: Thailand’s Talon, Indonesia’s Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ), and Singapore’s Paper Rex.

The finals are being held this weekend in Tokyo, Japan, where Paper Rex and RRQ will battle for the championship on Sunday, August 31, at 2 p.m. Manila time. Their run highlights a major power shift in VCT Pacific, which has long been dominated by South Korea’s powerhouse squads like DRX, T1, and Gen.G.

Jake Sin, head of Valorant Esports for Asia Pacific, praised the rise of SEA teams. He said the region has long been viewed as underdogs but is now showing its true strength. “We wanted to build a league where the best teams push each other to get better. And seeing SEA at the top shows how far the competition has grown,” he said.

RRQ in particular has shown a dramatic turnaround. After struggling in the lower half of VCT Pacific in 2024, the team is now defending its title as league champion. Sin said this level of competition is what makes the league exciting—no team can afford to be complacent.

Southeast Asia has already proven its rise on the global stage. Paper Rex claimed the Masters Toronto title earlier this year, while RRQ won the previous stage of VCT Pacific. For fans who have long supported SEA teams, the recent wins are a well-deserved reward.

“This region has been seen as an underdog for a long time, and now fans are finally getting champions they can cheer for,” Sin added.

The all-Southeast Asian finals put the spotlight firmly on the region, marking a new era in Valorant esports where diversity and unpredictability are driving the competition forward.
