After years of silence, Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series is finally picking up steam.
It has been five years since Netflix first revealed plans to turn Ubisoft’s hit video game series into a live-action show. For a long time, fans weren’t sure if it was still happening because of the lack of updates. But now, the project is officially back on track.
Netflix confirmed that the Assassin’s Creed series is moving forward and now has two showrunners. Roberto Patino, known for his work on Westworld and Sons of Anarchy, and David Wiener, who worked on Halo and Brave New World, will lead the project. They will also serve as executive producers, alongside Ubisoft’s Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and others.
The show will revolve around the long-running conflict between two secret groups — one that wants to control the future by manipulating people, and another that fights for freedom and choice. It will feature multiple characters living through key moments in history, just like the games.
Patino and Wiener shared that the series will explore deeper themes beyond the action and parkour. They want to highlight stories about human connection, identity, and the search for purpose. They believe the show will not only entertain but also reflect on what really matters in life.
While Netflix has had strong results with animated shows like Arcane and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, its live-action video game adaptations have been hit or miss. Still, fans are hopeful this long-awaited Assassin’s Creed series could deliver something big.
Now that the series is finally moving, fans are eager to see what it will look like.
