Valve has launched its latest handheld console, the Steam Deck, allowing you to play games from your Steam Library. The Steam Deck sports a 7-inch 1280 x 800 LCD touchscreen that runs a refresh rate of 60Hz. Furthermore, the Steam Deck runs on SteamOS 3.0 with Proton, a compatibility layer that makes it possible to run your games without any porting work needed from developers. The button layout of the Steam Deck includes A B X Y buttons, a D-pad, L & R analog, and bumper triggers, View & Menu buttons, two full-size analog sticks with capacitive touch, and four assignable grip buttons. The Steam Deck is advertised to have a 40Whr battery capable of 2 - 8 hours of gameplay charged via USB Type-C. The Steam Deck is set to ship in December 2021. The device, which has been going by the codename “Deckard,” may officially launch under the name Steam Frame, according to a new trademark filing by Valve. Steam Frame is expected to be the successor to the Valve Index, which first released back in 2019.
