Riot Games has announced a voice evaluation update in its popular FPS game Valorant that will start monitoring voice communications among players on July 13. Riot Games also recently updated Valorant's Privacy Notice and Terms of Service to allow recording and voice evaluation of in-game voice communications in the effort to "collect clear evidence that could verify any violations of behavioral policies" when a report had been submitted. Sony has recently clarified a new reporting feature on its Voice Chat on its upcoming PlayStation 5 console. The new Voice Chat feature allows PS5 players to report verbal harassment, inappropriate behavior, and actions that violate Sony's Community Code of Conduct while on PlayStation Network. Sony reiterates that the new feature will not actively monitor or listen to the player's conversations. Those who will file a harassment report using the feature will be able to include up to a 40 second-long Voice Chat clip of their conversation. The company also said that the Voice Chat reporting feature would be available only to the first five minutes of a private Voice Chat recording to review it before submitting a report. Sony also said that there wouldn’t be an option to opt-out of the Voice Chat recording feature to keep a safe environment on its platform.
