The World Video Game Hall of Fame has unveiled its Class of 2025, inducting four genres-defining titles—GoldenEye 007, Quake, Defender, and Tamagotchi—into its prestigious roster. Finally, Tamagotchi—the digital pet phenomenon launched by Bandai in 1996—introduced millions of children to handheld gaming and virtual caregiving. Successive Tamagotchi generations and spin-off mobile apps continue the brand’s legacy, illustrating the enduring appeal of life-simulation games. Bandai Namco is teaming up with Sanrio's  Hello Kitty to commemorate the iconic character's 50th anniversary with an exciting collaboration featuring new Tamagotchi models. Set to launch worldwide this summer, the Hello Kitty Tamagotchi Uni and Nano models are already generating buzz among fans, with pre-orders currently available and shipments expected in July 2024. This special collaboration introduces two new Tamagotchi Nano models, offering players a delightful Hello Kitty-themed experience. In addition to the Nano models, Bandai is also releasing the Hello Kitty Tamagotchi Uni Sanrio Characters Edition. This upgraded version of the classic Tamagotchi device boasts modern features like a vibrant color screen, expanded mini-games, and internet connectivity, allowing players to share their virtual critter's fashion on the "Tamaverse." The Uni comes with a pink watch band and a charming Hello Kitty-themed device shell.
