Kojima left Konami in 2015 after a highly publicized fallout, reportedly over the massive cost of developing Metal Gear Solid V. Kojima was even barred from accepting awards for the game, and shortly after, he left to form his own studio. Kojima has said he won’t play the remake, but many believe his influence still runs deep in the design. Fans note that while Konami built the remake, Kojima’s creative DNA is still all over the experience. The PlayStation State of Play presentation surprised many with the reveal of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the sequel to Hideo Kojima's divisive yet cinematic 2019 open-world action game. This, coupled with the upcoming “Death Stranding” film, suggests exciting times for fans of Kojima's unique creations.
