PS5 owners now have a faster, more seamless way to buy games and content from the PlayStation Store — thanks to newly added support for Apple Pay directly on the console. With this update, players can simply select Apple Pay as their payment method during checkout, then scan a QR code displayed on the TV screen using an iPhone. The process, introduced with iOS 18’s QR-style payments, instantly opens a secure payment window on the phone where users can authorize the purchase with Face ID or Touch ID. This new method isn't just about convenience — Apple Card users also stand to benefit from the standard 2% cash back on Apple Pay transactions, making game purchases a little more rewarding. The update was first reported by 9to5Mac and hints that PS4 users may also receive Apple Pay integration in a future software update. Another country has taken a sledgehammer to Apple’s long-standing control over app distribution, as Brazil has officially ordered Apple to allow sideloading on iOS devices. Brazil joins a growing list of nations—including Vietnam and the European Union (EU)—that are dismantling Apple’s closed ecosystem, pushing for greater consumer choice and market competition.
