iFixit announces official Xbox repair parts for do-it-yourself fixes

iFixit has expanded its collaboration with Microsoft to include official repair parts for Xbox Series X and S consoles. The parts, now available on iFixit’s Microsoft Repair Hub, offer gamers the tools and guidance they need to maintain or repair their devices, reducing e-waste and extending the lifespan of their hardware.

“We’re excited to be working with Microsoft to keep Xboxes running longer and out of the waste heap,” said Elizabeth Chamberlain, iFixit’s director of sustainability. This initiative marks another step in empowering consumers with the ability to fix their own devices. The hub features genuine components and detailed step-by-step repair guides for Xbox Series X and S, including the all-digital and disk-drive editions.

This isn’t iFixit’s first collaboration with Microsoft. In 2023, the company began offering parts for Microsoft Surface devices, enabling users to repair laptops and tablets with ease. According to Chamberlain, the Surface repair program has been a hit, and expanding to Xbox repairs is a natural progression.

Gamers now have access to components for both consoles and controllers. Microsoft offers first-party parts for its standard and Elite Series 2 controllers, complementing the console repair parts available through iFixit. The collaboration underscores Microsoft’s commitment to sustainability and consumer accessibility.

Beyond Xbox, iFixit has been a go-to source for parts for a variety of devices. The company supplies nearly every component needed to repair Valve’s Steam Deck, along with repair guides for the popular handheld gaming device. iFixit also provides repair parts for Google Pixel phones and tablets.

While partnerships with tech giants like Microsoft and Valve are thriving, not all collaborations have lasted. Earlier this year, iFixit’s partnership with Samsung came to an end, leaving a gap in its offerings for Samsung device owners. Despite this, iFixit remains a leader in the right-to-repair movement, championing sustainability and user empowerment across the tech industry.

With genuine Xbox parts now available, fans have more options than ever to keep their gaming systems in top shape. From fixing a broken controller to replacing internal components, iFixit’s resources aim to make repairs accessible and straightforward for everyone.
