Gamescom 2026 has officially wrapped up, and this year’s event in Cologne, Germany was packed with major reveals, long-awaited sequels, surprise announcements, and plenty of games for attendees to get their hands on. From the return of The Witcher 3 to new looks at Fable, Alien: Isolation 2, Gears of War: E-Day, and Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, Gamescom delivered plenty for both AAA and indie fans. The event also set new records, with 368,000 visitors from 131 countries attending this year’s show. With Gamescom 2026 now in the books, here are some of the biggest things that went down during the event. The Witcher 3 stole the show One of the biggest surprises of Gamescom 2026 came from CD Projekt Red, which announced a new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt more than a decade after the original game launched. Called The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, the expansion brings Geralt back for another adventure centered around his longtime friend Dandelion. According to CD Projekt Red, the expansion is being developed with Fool's Theory and is expected to be comparable in size to previous expansions such as Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. CD Projekt Red also announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, which is set to launch on September 29.
