By 2022, the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, elevated esports to official medalled status for the first time. The inclusion of major titles such as Tekken, Street Fighter, and King of Fighters highlights the increasing recognition of esports within competitive sporting events. The 2026 Asian Games will take place from September 19 to October 4, 2026, in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. After a string of cheeky social-media teasers, the publisher all but confirmed that a Street Fighter 6 x Monster Hunter Wilds collaboration is on the verge of being revealed, with a dedicated trailer scheduled to drop later today, May 22 (PHT). Meanwhile, Street Fighter 6 has quietly pushed its lifetime sales to 4.67 million copies, buoyed by a resurgent esports scene and steady character pass rollouts. Capcom’s fighters are already making moves outside their own ring; Overwatch 2’s Street Fighter 6 event went live this week, dressing eight Blizzard heroes in iconic SF6 garb and running until June 2.
