NVIDIA has announced that the Quake II RTX by LightSpeed Studios is now available on Steam and nvidia.com as a free download. Quake II RTX is NVIDIA's ray-traced remaster of id Software’s Quake II which was launched in 1997. Nvidia has confirmed that a small fraction of its new RTX 50 series graphics cards, including certain models of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 Ti, are missing eight crucial ROP (Raster Operating Pipeline) units. Notably, Nvidia’s Founders Edition of the RTX 5090 remains unaffected by this issue.
