DOOM was one of the greatest first-person shooters to be released and can be considered as the founding father of the entire genre itself. The first person horror-shooter wasn’t the first of its kind though; there were already games like Hovertank 3D, Catacomb 3-D, and the critically acclaimed Wolfenstein 3D, but none entered the public eye like Doom was able to.
