Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.0 was Rumored to Reward Xbox Players with Exclusive “Xboo” Companion

HoYoverse’s hit urban fantasy RPG Zenless Zone Zero is poised to arrive on Xbox Series X|S this June, and a new leak suggests Xbox fans will score a special cosmetic bonus. Community insider Firefly reports that players logging in on Xbox when Version 2.0 launches on June 4 will unlock an exclusive S-Rank Bangboo pet—nicknamed “Xboo”—sporting the console’s signature green-and-black color scheme and controller-button ears.

Zenless Zone Zero first teased its Xbox debut on April 1 with an April Fool’s–style tweet showcasing a Bangboo decorated in Xbox iconography and an absurd “February 30, 2222” release date. Far from a prank, HoYoverse soon confirmed the RPG’s full launch on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming via Game Pass Ultimate, promising Day 1 play alongside PC, mobile, and PlayStation platforms. While Version 2.0 brings new story content, Agents, and S-Rank Bangboo Robin (arriving with Hugo Vlad), the rumored Xboo sets Microsoft’s console apart—at least initially.

Platform-exclusive rewards are nothing new for HoYoverse. Its flagship title Genshin Impact has long offered PlayStation users unique gliders and weapons, and when Genshin later arrived on Xbox, an Xbox-branded glider briefly became available to all players before reverting to console exclusivity. Zenless Zone Zero may follow a similar path: Xboo could eventually be unlocked by non-Xbox players through in-game challenges or anniversary giveaways, especially since Version 2.0 is expected to celebrate the game’s one-year anniversary with a free S-Rank Agent for everyone.

Beyond the exclusive pet, Version 2.0 expands Zenless Zone Zero’s world of Neo-New Eridu with fresh main-story chapters, new side-quests, and an S-Rank Bangboo called Robin—whose sleek design and special “Circuit Charge” ability have fans eagerly anticipating its release. Hugo Vlad, the game’s first cybernetic Agent, debuts at the end of May, rounding out the roster just in time for the Xbox launch. Players can also look forward to balance tweaks, quality-of-life upgrades like auto-battle improvements, and the return of limited-time weekend Raid Dungeons.

Zenless Zone Zero has amassed millions of downloads since its early-access debut last year, praised for its vibrant art direction, fast-paced combat, and collectible Bangboo companions. The announcement of console-exclusive content comes as HoYoverse continues to broaden the game’s appeal, tapping into Xbox’s massive Game Pass subscriber base and cloud-gaming audience. Game Pass Ultimate members will not only enjoy Xboo but also receive bonus stamina potions and in-game currency as part of the console launch celebration.

With Version 1.7 wrapping up and community events already teasing crossover skins and festival-themed Bangboos, Zenless Zone Zero’s roadmap through the rest of 2025 is filling out fast. More details on the Xboo distribution method—whether automatic or tied to specific quests—should arrive in the weeks ahead, so players on all platforms are advised to keep an eye on the game’s official Twitter and Discord channels.
