Zenless Zone Zero 2.2 Brings Obol Squad and New Agents This September 4

HoYoverse has officially announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.2, titled “Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night”, will launch on September 4. This update is shaping up to be a big one, as it introduces the Obol Squad, a new faction that will shake up the ongoing battles in New Eridu.

Leading the charge is Seed, an S-Rank Electric Attack Agent and genius mechanic who brings heavy firepower to the battlefield with his mecha partner. Alongside him is Orphie & Magus, the Obol Squad’s captain and an S-Rank Fire Attack Agent who specializes in powerful lasers and team-focused combat. Together, their skills open new ways for players to build stronger squads. Adding to the team is Mercury, an S-Rank Bangboo tank unit that provides frontline support.

Players can also look forward to returning favorites like Trigger and Evelyn, while Soldier 0 – Anby is still in training and expected to come back stronger in future versions.

Version 2.2 will not just add new characters but also fresh events. The Band of Brave Bangboo tower defense event introduces new maps, enemies, and mechanics, with the chance to unlock the A-Rank Excaliboo companion. There’s also a music-based event called Rhythm Rave, where players can test their timing to classic beats and earn rewards.

On top of the new content, the update brings optimizations, such as letting players choose between Belle or Wise when starting companion events. With all these changes, Zenless Zone Zero 2.2 is set to keep Proxies busy when it launches on PlayStation 5 Pro, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PC, iOS, and Android.
