ONIC Philippines surged to the top of the MPL Philippines Season 16 standings after a dominant sweep of Team Falcons PH on Friday, September 5.

The reigning M6 world champions bounced back strong from their earlier loss to Aurora Gaming, improving their record to 3-1.

In Game 1, ONIC needed just 16 minutes to dismantle Falcons. Jungler King Cyric “K1NGKONG” Perez put on a show with his signature Fanny, scoring nine kills and four assists.

With momentum on their side, ONIC closed out the series in Game 2 behind K1NGKONG’s Hayabusa, who posted a 5-1-7 line. Despite a late Falcons surge, ONIC sealed the sweep to grab the top spot in the standings.

ONIC will next face Smart Omega (2-2), while Falcons, now at 1-4, take on AP.Bren (1-2) on Saturday.

But ONIC wasn’t the only highlight of the night. Aurora Gaming extended its winning streak to three after grinding out a 2-1 victory over Twisted Minds in a tense showdown.

After splitting the first two games, Aurora relied on EXP laner Edward Jay “Edward” Dapadap, who dominated with Lapu-Lapu in Game 3. He finished with five kills and six assists as Aurora silenced Twisted Minds in just 13 minutes, holding them to only two kills while controlling the jungle.

“Na-execute ng players ‘yung pina-practice namin at nagawa namin ‘yung hinanda namin sa Twisted Minds. Kaya tingin ko nagkaroon kami ng advantage. Credits pa rin sa players kasi maganda talaga yung naging execution nila,” said Aurora head coach Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani.

Aurora now sits at 3-1 and will face TNC Pro Team (1-2) next. Twisted Minds, who fell to 3-2, will try to bounce back against ONIC Philippines (3-1).
