The Sims 4 goes FREE to play

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that The Sims 4 (base game) will be free-to-play starting October 18.

The Mavis-developed simulation game will be available to download for FREE on PC and Mac via EA app, Steam, or Origin, including consoles like PlayStation (PS5/ PS4), and Xbox (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One).

EA says that those who have already purchased The Sims 4 base game receive the Desert Luxe Kit from September 14 to October 17. Players may claim it by simply logging in to the game and it will available be right on the main menu.

While those subscribed to EA Play and EA Play Pro will receive an ‘upgraded experience’ member-only bundles going into ‘The Play List’ on October 18.

Maxis also said that their team is ‘more dedicated than ever’ in developing new and meaningful experiences for The Sims 4.

EA will also hold a presentation event “Behind the Sims Summit” on October 18, 2022 (10 am PDT/ 1 pm ET) via The Sims YouTube and Twitch channels.
