Netmarble has confirmed that The King of Fighters AFK, its newest idle RPG, will officially launch worldwide on September 4 for both Android and iOS. The game was first revealed during the Tokyo Game Show 2024 and went through early access testing in Canada, Indonesia, and the Philippines earlier this year.

The King of Fighters AFK mixes the classic KOF roster with modern idle RPG mechanics. Players can collect fan-favorite fighters like Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard, Benimaru Nikaido, Shermie, Mature, and more, then put them into dynamic 5v5 team battles. With its retro pixel-art style, the game keeps a nostalgic feel while adding features like one-tap power boosts, character growth, and strategic team setups that change depending on lineup and positioning.

While the idle format might not offer the same hands-on fighting experience that longtime fans are used to, it still provides a unique spin on the series. Players can enjoy infinite progression, squad-based combat, and a distinctive system not found in other KOF titles. The game also brings back familiar villains, giving it a fresh yet classic feel for fans of the franchise.

Pre-registration is now available through the Google Play Store and App Store. Signing up early comes with big rewards, including 3,000 free draws and access to fighters Vice, Iori, and Leona once the game goes live.

With its mix of nostalgic characters, pixel visuals, and idle gameplay, The King of Fighters AFK looks to be an exciting new entry for both casual mobile gamers and longtime KOF fans.
