Qualcomm announces Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 Gaming Platform

Qualcomm has announced at the Snapdragon Tech Summit, the Snapdragon G3x Gen1 Gaming Platform, an Android-based platform that allows gamers the best place to play their favorite games and stream them from a console or PC.

Qualcomm has partnered with Razer to showcase the new gaming platform. It has built the first Snapdragon G3x Handheld Gaming Developer Kit aimed to provide developers with a device with high-end graphics and ubiquitous connectivity.

“Razer is extremely excited to partner with Qualcomm Technologies and supports them on their way to introduce new cutting-edge technology to the global gaming industry,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and chief executive officer. “Together, Qualcomm Technologies and Razer will lead the way with new and innovative solutions that push the boundaries of fidelity and quality available in portable gaming, transforming the way these games are experienced.”

Snapdragon G3x Gaming Platform features:
• Snapdragon G3x Gen1 Chip with Kryo CPU and Adreno GPU
• 120Hz 10-bit HDR Full HD+ OLED display capable of running 144fps
• Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 for WiFi 6 and 6E
• 5G mmWave
• 5MP 1080p60 Webcam
• Controller mapping from AKSys
• Snapdragon Sound w/ 4-way speaker

So far, no information has been available about which other manufacturers will be launching devices powered by this new Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 Gaming Platform but Qualcomm’s Micah Knapp says that the company is currently focusing on the developer community and launching devices is up to OEMs.
