De La Salle University’s Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) team, Viridis Arcus, is set to represent the Philippines at Campus Game Fest 2024 in Singapore this weekend. Fresh off their championship win at the Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE) League Season 4, Viridis Arcus will compete against top student esports teams from around Asia. The event runs from October 24-28, with Viridis Arcus aiming to bring home a victory in the Mobile Legends tournament.
Led by coach Kenneth Jiane “Kenji” Villa, team members Aaron “Aaronqt” Lim and Ryu “Laytutu” Godoy are focused on maintaining their stellar form from the CCE playoffs, where they delivered a dominant performance last July to secure their place at Campus Game Fest. They join Jed Soriano from DLSU-Dasmarinas, who will be competing in the Street Fighter 6 tournament as another Filipino representative.
Campus Game Fest, organized by the Singapore Cybersports and Online Gaming Association (SCOGA), is a major annual event that celebrates the growing world of student esports. This year’s Fest brings a packed schedule of competitions and activities designed to spotlight young talents in gaming.
The participation of these student-athletes is part of CCE’s Next Gen Program, which encourages up-and-coming esports talents by offering a platform to hone their skills and gain exposure to international competition. As the global esports industry continues to expand, this opportunity allows players from the Philippines to build experience and connect with a broader esports community, potentially opening doors for professional careers.
Viridis Arcus and Jed Soriano’s journey exemplifies the growth of collegiate esports in the Philippines and the drive to foster a new generation of Filipino esports talent.
