Basketball legend and six-time NBA world champion Michael Jordan returns as the cover athlete of NBA 2K23's special editions. 2K announced that Jordan will appear on both cover of NBA 2K23 Michael Jordan Edition and the 'ultra-premium' NBA 2K23 Championship Edition, which the publisher confirmed with a release date on September 9. It makes sense that the latest NBA iteration makes Jordan who wears the jersey number 23 as the cover, but 2K also said Jordan matches the theme of this year's MyPlayer campaign mode: "Answer the call". "After making 23 the most recognizable number in sports, it was only fitting that for NBA 2K23 we introduce the Michael Jordan Edition," said Alfie Brody, NBA 2K vice president of global marketing strategy. "Additionally, we're thrilled to introduce a brand new premium edition of the game with the NBA 2K23 Championship Edition, as no other player embodies the word 'champion' like Jordan," Brody added. A 12-month subscription to NBA League Pass will be included on the limited versions of the game that lets players view NBA season action on the court. NBA 2K23 is now available for pre-orders starting July 7. Electronic Arts (EA) announced that the NBA Live 18 will now have WNBA in the game.
