Gamescom 2023 has officially been announced with a date for the open night live. Gamescom is a trade fair for computer and video games and news in the game industry. Gamescom 2023's Opening Night Live will take place on August 22 and the event will last up to August 27. Gamescom 2026 has officially wrapped up, and this year’s event in Cologne, Germany was packed with major reveals, long-awaited sequels, surprise announcements, and plenty of games for attendees to get their hands on. From the return of The Witcher 3 to new looks at Fable, Alien: Isolation 2, Gears of War: E-Day, and Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, Gamescom delivered plenty for both AAA and indie fans. With Gamescom 2026 now in the books, here are some of the biggest things that went down during the event. The Witcher 3 stole the show One of the biggest surprises of Gamescom 2026 came from CD Projekt Red, which announced a new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt more than a decade after the original game launched. The Witcher 3's remaster and Songs of the Past won the gamescom award for Best Trailer / Announcement, while the game's booth also won the Jury Award for Best Booth.
