Ubisoft is rethinking its approach to the upcoming Far Cry multiplayer experience as leaked details reveal that the extraction-shooter title, codenamed Project Maverick, is undergoing a major reboot. Sources indicate that Ubisoft’s core tech team, known as Talisker, has been reassigned to Project Blackbird, the main Far Cry 7 project, prompting a strategic restructuring of the Maverick team. Despite these changes, the company remains optimistic about the future of the franchise, with Far Cry 7 slated for release around 2026. This development isn’t the only sign of change within the Far Cry ecosystem. Ubisoft has recently been busy updating Far Cry 5 and 6, including cross-platform achievement progress via Ubisoft Connect and hints of returning fan-favorite content from earlier installments. Ubisoft’s bold restructuring and the decision to consolidate teams behind Far Cry 7 indicate that the company is leaving no stone unturned in its pursuit of innovation and quality. Ubisoft will be releasing more of its games on Steam in the upcoming months, including Far Cry 6, Riders Republic, Rainbow Six Extraction, and Monopoly Madness. Far Cry 6 will be the first to launch on May 12, followed by Riders Republic, Rainbow Six Extraction, and Monopoly Madness on June 8th, June 15th and June 22nd, respectively.
