Dire Maul and Stratholme are divided into two wings, providing a total of six dungeon experiences for players to explore. For long-time WoW players, this is an exciting opportunity to relive these instances as they were in Vanilla WoW, before the changes brought by Cataclysm.

Classic Timewalking allows players to revisit these dungeons at their current character level, making the content accessible to both newcomers and veterans alike. The event is part of World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary, which also coincides with the release of Patch 11.0.5. Blizzard is pulling out all the stops for this milestone event, which promises an array of content, activities, and rewards.

Rewards and Collectibles

Timewalking events always come with their own set of exclusive rewards, and Classic Timewalking is no exception. Players will be able to spend their hard-earned Timewarped Badges on various collectibles from the vendor Bobadormu, including:

  • A new mount
  • Toy items
  • Several pets
  • Reputation tokens
  • Transmog appearances inspired by WoW Classic Season of Discovery

The event will also offer gear that will appeal to players looking to add unique appearances to their transmog collections, adding a fresh layer of incentive to revisit these dungeons.

While fans are thrilled with the return of these classic dungeons, some iconic Vanilla WoW instances didn’t make the cut. Dungeons like the Wailing Caverns and the original wings of the Scarlet Monastery are noticeably absent from the Classic Timewalking lineup. Additionally, Blizzard has not included a Timewalking raid as part of this event, which has left some players hoping for more expansive future events.

However, to make up for it, players can enjoy a special 20th-anniversary raid version of Blackrock Depths. This sprawling dungeon has been reimagined as a raid for the event and offers both a new and nostalgic experience for those familiar with the location. There’s no word yet on whether Blackrock Depths will become a recurring part of Timewalking events, but it’s sure to be a hit during the anniversary celebrations.

As part of WoW’s Timewalking rotation, Classic Timewalking will return in the future, offering players more chances to jump into these dungeons beyond the anniversary window. For now, though, fans are eager to relive these retro dungeons and enjoy everything that Blizzard has packed into this special event.

With the anniversary event around the corner, World of Warcraft is celebrating its rich history while giving players a chance to experience some of its earliest content in new and exciting ways. Make sure to jump in starting October 22 to see it all for yourself!
