Atari and GSD group, a leading innovation and strategy group, have acquired the rights to build a video game-themed Atari Hotels in the United States.
The plans for the hotels include arcade bars, fine restaurants, AR and VR tech, with some locations having e-sports studios, facilities, and the ability to host and broadcast live events.
Shelly Murphy from the GSD group leads the hotel design with the help of Napoleon Smith III, the producer of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot. They have partnered with True North Studio, a leading Phoenix, Arizona based real estate developer, and Steve Wozniak’s Woz Innovation Foundation to start construction by mid-2020.
Atari is reported to receive a $600,000 upfront payment and a 5% share of the hotel’s revenue. Other sites planned to open new Atari hotels include Austin, Texas; Chicago; Denver; Las Vegas; San Francisco; San Jose, California; and Seattle.
