Upcoming Blockchain games to look forward to

You might be thinking, “I really want to find a Blockchain game before it hypes up,” since it might be a little too late for Axie Infinity or My DeFi Pet given the cyrpto prices. But, don’t worry, we share the same contempt, which is why we procured a list of upcoming Blockchain games to look forward to.

Authors Note: Keep in mind that these games do not guarantee a ‘play-to-earn’ feature at launch.

Guild of Guardians

Developed by Stepico, Guild of Guardians is a fantasy and action-themed mobile RPG multiplayer game. It allows its players to take teams of heroes through dungeon runs to collect resources, which are then used to create valuable items and heroes sold for real money.

Traditional roles such as Tanks, Healers, DPS, and Support will be available for players to choose from. However, it is noted that the mobile game is level-based and will not feature open-world gameplay.

As of the time of writing, Guild of Guardians will have systems for players seeking to earn, which covers summoning, merging, character ascension, and crafting. Its in-game currency, Gems, is an ERC-20 token issued on Ethereum and will be tradeable by anyone for ETH. Guild of Guardians will be launched by 2022.

Mirandus

Mirandus is a fantasy MMORPG that is developed by Gala Games. Players and contributors own every item in the game, including weapons, tents, shops, and cities. Furthermore, it is advertised to have the players’ decisions affect the game, creating an environment built by only its players.

Players can own lands in Mirandus, and all ownership of digital assets in the game is stored on the Gala Blockchain. Therefore, having a keep or a base close to a dungeon will provide an opportunity for trade, and at the same time, can act as a safe haven for other players, which gives its owner income—just like a DND tavern.

Nestable

Nestables is an interactive crypto-collectible game by Tribal Gaming, featuring a wide range of gameplay such as collecting resources, building nests, breeding, and collecting Cubes. Each Cube has different physical and personality traits, consisting of two colors, two eyes, a head decoration, ears, and a tail. Note that each cube is an ERC-1155 Token backed by Enjin Coin. Allowing freedom to share, trade in-game items or Cubes freely.

Since each Cube has its own unique trait and personality, that uniqueness would be the “factor” for value, which can then be priced at the market.

Fortified

Fortified is a browser, tower defense game on Gala Games. In-game, players will be able to compete with one another in building the best defenses they can. They can butt heads with one another either on their own land or in neutral territory.

Player ownership of assets is important for the game because it may provide additional perks that the default towers cannot provide, such as Arrow Tower, which is currently at .012 ETH. However, it is noted that players without land or NFTs will still participate and compete for a chance at the prize pool.

Ember Sword

Developed by Bright Star Studios Limited, Ember Sword is a free-to-play MMORPG that takes place in a player-driven dystopian fantasy universe with a classless and fast-paced combat system. Not to worry, it will also be featuring PVE experiences.

The game will be using Ehtereum to power its cosmetic items and land ownership, which can be traded for currency when converted. However, since it is wrapped in Etherium, the company stated that they would only accept USDC and have Polygon (formerly Matic) run its gas prices.

The company stated that Ember Sword would be released on PC first with plans to extend to mobile, hopefully featuring crossplay between the platforms. Ember Sword is currently in its pre-alpha stage, accessible to limited players but has plans to be released by early 2022.

Illuvium

Illuvium is an open-world fantasy battle game built entirely on the Ethereum Blockchain. If you know what Crypto Kitties are, Illuvium is its upgraded version, created with high-quality 3D art. Players can capture Illuvials by beating them in battle and then nursing them back to health. Each Illuvials is also an NFT, with all creatures being restricted to a limited number. ETH is used for all in-game purchases, and the fees will be sent to the Illuvium Vault. The Illuvium exchange is its online marketplace governed by the Illuvium DAO, for players to buy and sell all in-game NFTs.

The game has been in development since 2020 and was created by more than 40 professionals with experience across gaming and cryptocurrency. The game’s whitepaper states that it will undergo its private Beta launch by October and will have its mobile release by 2022.

Space Misfits

Space Misfits is an online space multiplayer game powered by ENJIN technology. Players, known as Orion Misfits, venture out to survive in space, build their fleet and seek out rewards. Jade Stems studios stated that they wanted to make the game a “living” world that changes every day—breaking from the static structure of RPGs.

According to their whitepaper, players will choose from a range of roles, and each role will allow a player to earn BITS, the in-game currency, which can be used to buy in-game assets and NFTs. BITS can also be used for ships, modules, ammunition, and fuel, allowing the player to progress further for better loot.

And there you have it, a list of upcoming Blockchain games to look out for. So if you have been itching to jump on the wagon before it starts rolling, you might want to check these out.
