Electronic Arts (EA) has announced a forthcoming price increase for its EA Play subscription service, effective May 10. Email notifications have begun circulating to users, informing them of the impending changes. Interestingly, while the new prices are already visible for new members, existing subscribers won’t experience the hike until the specified date.

This adjustment aligns with a broader trend of subscription services adjusting fees to match market values. EA’s move follows similar actions by competitors such as Sony, which raised the price of its PlayStation Plus subscription last September. Beyond gaming, increases in subscription costs have been observed across various entertainment sectors, with companies like Disney and Netflix implementing price hikes within the past six months.

EA Play, originally launched in 2014 as EA Access and later rebranded as EA Play in 2020, offers subscribers access to a curated selection of EA titles along with exclusive discounts and DLC. While the price hike may disappoint some users, EA Play continues to provide value comparable to other subscription services in the gaming industry.
