Riot Games Philippines is revving up the local esports scene once again as it officially announces the return of Wild Rounds: Pilipinas Open for its second season — and this year promises to be even wilder. The grassroots tournament for League of Legends: Wild Rift kicks off with registration for Split 1 starting May 10, featuring a significantly boosted prize pool of ₱1.5 million and a competitive roadmap spanning from Q2 to Q4 of 2025.
Building on the success of its debut season, Wild Rounds: Pilipinas is Riot’s initiative to strengthen the local Wild Rift ecosystem, empowering amateur and regional players to rise through the ranks. The 2025 edition will roll out in three splits, each with open-format qualifiers, group stages, and high-stakes elimination rounds — culminating in a live grand final set for July 5.
Joel Guzman, Country Manager for Riot Games Philippines, emphasized that this year’s Wild Rounds is about sustaining Riot’s commitment to its growing Wild Rift communities across the country. “By aligning with Riot Games’ global calendar and patch updates, we see to it that our local activations deliver world-class gaming experiences,” Guzman shared.
The competition begins with the drawing of brackets on June 9, followed by Group Stage matches through mid-June. The tournament heats up with Top 16 and Top 8 battles set for June 28 and 29, leading to the national finals.
Beyond the main competition, Riot PH is expanding its grassroots presence through a series of activations, including:
Adding more fuel to the hype, Wild Rounds: Smash — Riot’s special all-star invitational — is also returning this year. The event will feature top-tier pro teams and celebrity streamers, and will incorporate new mechanics and a refreshed tournament format.
Riot is also gearing up for the 5th anniversary of Wild Rift in October. To mark this milestone, fans can look forward to exclusive in-game events, community rewards, and surprise content releases that celebrate five years of competitive fire, camaraderie, and iconic moments in the Philippine mobile MOBA scene.
“We’re inviting everyone to once again ‘magpakitang gilas’ at the Rift,” said Kimi Salazar, MOBA Brand Manager of Riot Games PH. “This year’s tournament and community events reflect our continued passion to engage and unite Filipino players through Wild Rift.”
For fans and aspiring players alike, Wild Rounds: Pilipinas Open 2025 is shaping up to be the most competitive and inclusive season yet. Updates will be regularly posted on the official League of Legends: Wild Rift Facebook and Instagram pages.
