Resident Evil 4 Remake, Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy 16, and more revealed at PlayStation State of Play June 2022 broadcast

PlayStation on Thursday premiered its latest ‘State of Play’ broadcast packing new developments from popular gaming franchises, including a glimpse and release window of Final Fantasy 16; and the reveal of Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Below is the roundup of every announcement and trailer showcased on June 2, 2022 PlayStation’s State of Play.

 

Resident Evil 4 Remake goes official, release on 2023

Capcom’s remake of 2005 game Resident Evil 4 is officially announced and its release will be on March 24, 2023 for the PS5. The developer is looking to rework the “storyline of the game while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics and updating the controls to a modern standard.”

Resident Evil Village PS VR2 full story campaign is under development

PlayStation VR 2 players will soon immerse to visit Resident Evil Village’s world bringing its entire story campaign to be playable in VR.

Final Fantasy 16 launches in Summer 2023

Final Fantasy 16 is set to release in 2023 around the Summer season. Its trailer “Dominance” introduced several new Eikons including the ‘Dominants’ of Titan and Garuda, and protagonist Clive Rosfield was also featured.

The game has already entered the final leg of development and the team under the direction of Hiroshi Takai now focuses on polishing.

Street Fighter 6′ revealed, new fighters coming to its roster, release window in 2023

Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, developed on RE Engine—the same engine used on Resident Evil 7 and Village—allowing improved graphics and enhanced visuals.

OG Ryu, Chun-Li with Luke, and newcomer Jamie are all already signed in to the roster as fans wait for more Street Fighter 6 news.

Horizon: Call of the Mountain coming to PlayStation VR2

Players will be able to experience Horizon in a more immersive way as the game comes to PlayStation VR 2.

Alongside the story mode, players may explore the Horizon’s scenery through River Ride mode, however, there will still be some “uninvited machines” spawning on player’s stead.

Horizon: Forbidden West gets a major update and it’s out now

Horizon: Forbidden West major update will add Performance Mode, Transmog— a way to reset skills, Ultra Hard Difficulty, New Game+, New Game+ Trophies, and more.

The update also includes a new Herbalist vendor and improved Temporal Anti-Aliasing.

 

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2: Retribution coming to PlayStation VR2

The sequel will be released on the original PS VR in late 2022, and eventually will arrive on PS VR2 in 2023, bringing “new weapons, bigger threats and gameplay changes.”

The Callisto Protocol coming on December 2, 2022

Sci-fi horror The Callisto Protocol has debuted its first look and gameplay trailer and Striking Distance Studios CEO Glen Schofield confirmed it will be released in December 2022.

Marvel’s Spider-Man series is coming to PC, and a new version of Spider-Man Remastered will be released early on August 12, 2022. Spider-Man: Miles Morales will be released around September this year.

Futuristic bloodsport ‘Rollerdrome’ coming in PS4, PS5 this August 16, 2022

OlliOlliworld’s Roll7 is set to release a “brutal new bloodsport” skater-shooter game ‘Rollerdrome’ on August 16, 2022.

In this game, players are engaged in first-person shooter gameplay while doing skateboard tricks mid-air.

Isometric adventure game ‘Tunic’ coming to PS5, PS4 on September 27, 2022

Finji’s fox adventure game ‘Tunic’ is set to release on September 27, 2022 for the PlayStation 5 and PS4.

Players may explore “a land filled with lost legends, ancient powers, and ferocious monsters in this isometric action game about a small fox on a big adventure”

Dating-action game ‘Eternights’ arrives in PS5, PS4 in early 2023

Dating simulation meets action adventure in ‘Eternights’ as is set into an apocalyptic setting. Players may have five “quirky and loveable characters” to date with and may be able to explore their backstories. The game will also be based on the player’s decision-making skill that will surely make an impact on the game progress, while RPG-action playstyle is all throughout.
