Nintendo has officially announced that the 3DS and Wii U online servers will end their services this year.

In an official post in Nintendo’s website, online play and communication will cease for the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U on April 8, 2024.

In Nintendo’s X account, they have also posted that users may combine unused Nintendo eShop balance to their Nintendo Accounts. This can then be used on the Nintendo Switch.

The last day for Nintendo Network ID fund combination is on March 11. Nintendo will not make it possible to combine funds between a Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo Account after this. This can be done by linking both the ID and Account, merging the wallets together.

The Nintendo 3DS was officially launched back in 2011 whereas the Wii U was released back in 2012.
