Activision has announced the discontinuation of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, just over a year after its global release on March 21, 2024. Despite an impressive start with over 15 million downloads in the first four days, the game failed to meet expectations among mobile-first players, leading to its removal from the App Store and Google Play as of May 18, 2025 .
Players who had installed the game before May 19, 2025, will retain access, including cross-progression and online matchmaking. However, no new seasonal content or gameplay updates will be provided, and in-game purchases with real currency have been disabled. Activision has also stated that refunds will not be offered for previously purchased content or unspent COD Points .
In response to the shutdown, Activision is offering Warzone Mobile players a free upgrade to Call of Duty: Mobile. By logging in with their Activision account, players can receive double their remaining COD Points and additional rewards in Call of Duty: Mobile. This offer is valid until August 15, 2025 .
The decision to discontinue Warzone Mobile highlights the challenges of adapting console and PC gaming experiences to mobile platforms. Despite shared progression features and significant investment, the game struggled with performance and optimization issues, leading to its underperformance in the competitive mobile gaming market.
