Games we are playing now (January 2021)

We’re already on our fourth day of 2021. The new year for our team means more gadgets to review and new games to explore and play. Apart from keeping us from boredom, these mobile and PC games help us stay focused and improve our logic. Here’s a list of what we are currently playing on our respective gaming devices during our rest days.

Legion-Phone-Duel-7

Door Kickers

Developed and published by Killhouse Games, the real-time strategy game allows players to control a SWAT team’s elite squad. They may choose among over 65 weapons and gears to defeat criminals, plan team routes, breach points, and coordinate multiple troopers to find the hostage room and save the victim from the bad guys. It has 80 single missions, 6 campaigns and offers top and down perspectives easier tactical analysis. The game also has continuous gameplay with free pauses.

Jewel Town

Jewel Town is a match 3 puzzle game that has over 10,000 levels. As the name suggests, the game is about matching beautiful jewels and collecting the power-ups. It showcases various combinations of gems to help you complete the challenge. Jewel Town also allows you to compete with friends, defeat opponents, and achieve higher rankings.

Don’t Starve Together.

A standalone multiplayer expansion of the survival game Don’t Starve, Don’t Starve Together allows players to gather food supplies, craft their own tools and equipment, hunt for food, defeat enemies, and survive. Players will set foot on a strange and unexplored world full of strange creatures, dangers, and surprises. They may invite up to six friends in a private game or take chances with strangers online. There are also mods available that increase players’ numbers and give a new, customized world in a private game.

Pluck It

Pluck It, as the name suggests, is a game about hair plucking. While it may sound weird, this game is actually pretty fun, but really weird. You get to pluck a lot of hairs and experience over 30 different emotions, and there’s an easter egg once you finished the game. It was developed by Feeling Game Company Ltd.

Outer Wilds

The award-winning, action-adventure game developed by Mobius Digital and published by Annapurna Interactive was named the Best Game at 2020 BAFTA Games Awards and Game of the Year 2019 Giant Bomb, Polygon, Eurogamer, and The Guardian. It features an open-world solar system where players are trapped in an endless time loop. It is a single-player game that allows players to explore hidden locations that change over time. This includes an underground city before it gets swallowed by the sand or the surface of an unknown planet.

Fallout Shelter

This free-to-play simulation game by Bethesda allows players to build and effectively manage their own Vault from Vault-tec. The game’s main objectives are to provide a viable shelter for its dwellers, keep them happy, and protect them from the dangers of the Wasteland. Players may customize their dwellers’ look, attract new ones, send them to loot tools, and even play as a matchmaker.

Genshin Impact

Come play this free-to-play, open-world, gacha game that everyone is talking about right now! Players take on a journey as a traveler, which needs to go through and complete quests to find a lost sibling and understand the truth about the primeval gods. They may unlock up to 24 characters, play with friends through the multiplayer mode, and control over one of the seven natural elements. Do take note that you will need to grind a few levels to unlock the multiplayer feature. One feature that we like the most here is its crossplay capability, allowing players to enjoy it across gaming consoles, desktops, and mobile.

Valorant

Riot Games’ latest multiplayer FPS game features 13 playable agents, which can be categorized as Duelist, Controller, Initiator, and Sentinel. Each character has special skills that help defeat enemies. Players are grouped into two teams with up to five players.  The game’s main objective is to plant a spike in the enemy’s site, kill enemies during gunplay, use tactical abilities, and defend your team’s base when the base gets switched. Players may buy primary and secondary weapons, as well as special skills before the round starts. It’s basically like CSGO, but with a twist. The first team to dominate by 13 rounds wins. Although it is free, new players should make a Riot Account first and sign-up before downloading and installing the game.

League of Legends: Wild Rift

This free-to-play, 5v5 MOBA game is set on Riot’s lore. Technically, it’s League of Legends playable on Android and iOS devices. This gives League of Legends players an advantage, giving them extremely familiar gameplay with champions and spells similar to the PC version. The objectives are the same, and the map is somewhat similar as well. Currently, the game is available in Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste. Open beta access has started months ago in other regions such as Europe, Oceania, North Africa, and the Middle East. Just like Valorant, Wild Rift also requires a Riot Account.

Mobile Legends

Last on our list is another 5v5 MOBA game by Moonton, the famous Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Since its launch last 2016, the game has brought many improvements in the game, including revamped versions of its original heroes, new skill sets, background stories, and appearances. The game has recently named its latest Philippine ambassador, Manny Pacquiao, and teases a new character based on the boxing champion.
