Valve enhances Steam Mobile App, Beta Ongoing

Despite Steam being the go-to gaming platform for PC games, the Steam Mobile App has not had a major update in the longest time.

In a news post from Steam’s website, Valve announces that it will be releasing a beta of an updated app specifying that it has “rebuilt the app on a new framework and modernized the design.” Despite these major modifications, users will still be able to browse the store, get Steam Guard codes, and confirm trades.

In a news post on the Steam website, Valve states that it is rolling out a limited beta of the updated app. According to the company, it has,  Although major changes are being made, Valve confirms users will still be able to do things like browse the store, get Steam Guard codes, and confirm trades.

The update provides a better user experience along with the following

  • Better notification systems
  • New Steam authenticator
  • Support for multiple accounts
  • Enhanced library view
  • Enhanced trade confirmation

Valve also announces the reason behind the sudden update stating:

“The sooner we get your feedback on a product, the better. So when we’re far enough along, we ask invested Steam users to try something out and provide feedback. This helps us test our assumptions, learn what you like and don’t like, and find things that need to be fixed. This is especially important when the app can be used on so many different phones and devices.”

To be able to check out the revamped version of the mobile app and test its improvements, Valve provides a beta version for both the Android and iOS apps. A note for the iOS users is that clicking on the link on the iOS device will install the app and automatically install the beta by itself.The iOS beta participants are limited to 10,000 slots per Apple guidelines and Valve claims that they would be adding more slots as the beta progresses.
