Telltale Games shutting down

It’s a sad day for the gaming industry as we bid farewell to one of its iconic developers. In a very surprising turn of events Telltale Games, a well-known developer of story-driven games, just announced the beginning of a major studio closure.

TellTale Games is better known for their foray into story-driven decision-based game ports of well-known pop culture shows and movies. The Walking Dead being their most popular and best selling title. Although the game studio also released Telltale versions of Batman and Game of Thrones.

It’s been an incredibly difficult year for telltale as we worked to set the company on a new course. Unfortunately, we ran out of time trying to get there. We released some of our best content this year and received tremendous amount of positive feedback, but ultimately, that did not translate to sales. With a heavy heart, we watch our friends leave today to spread our brand of storytelling across the games industry” – Telltale Games CEO Pete Hawley

The company has already dismissed the majority of their staff with only 25 remaining to fulfill their obligations to boards and partners. They will issue further comments about their product portfolio in the coming weeks.
