Sony has rolled out a new system software update for the PlayStation 5, bringing back beloved classic console themes and introducing an innovative Audio Focus feature to enhance the gaming experience.
The update reintroduces the classic console themes that were initially released during the PlayStation 30th anniversary celebrations. These themes, inspired by the original PlayStation, PS2, PS3, and PS4, allow users to customize their PS5 home screen with the iconic aesthetics and startup sounds of previous generations. Players can access these themes through the new “Appearance” menu in the PS5 settings .
In addition to the visual enhancements, the update introduces the Audio Focus feature, designed to provide a more immersive and personalized audio experience. This feature offers four preset options: Boost Low Pitch, Boost Voices, Boost High Pitch, and Boost Quiet Sounds. Each preset can be adjusted to three intensity levels—Weak, Medium, or Strong—and can be customized separately for the left and right audio channels. Audio Focus is accessible via [Settings] > [Sound] > [Volume] > [Audio Focus] or directly from the Control Center during gameplay. It’s important to note that Audio Focus is compatible with headphones connected via USB or analog jack but is not supported for HDMI connections through TVs, AV receivers, or soundbars .
This update not only caters to long-time PlayStation fans by reviving nostalgic themes but also enhances the gaming experience with improved audio customization options, reflecting Sony’s commitment to both heritage and innovation in gaming.
