Garena announces LoL Varsity League campuses in the Philippines

Garena Philippines has announced the first seven LoL Varsity League campuses in the Philippines in an effort to grow collegiate esports in the country.

According to Garena, the goal of the committee is to “grow collegiate esports not only as a league but as a tool for education.” Here are the first seven LoL Varsity League campuses:

• Technical University of the Philippines-Manila (TUP)
• AMA University-Quezon City (AMA-QC)
• University of the Philippines-Diliman (UP-D)
• Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL)
• Far Eastern University-Institute of Technology (FEU-IT)
• University of Sto. Tomas (UST)
• iAcademy (iAC)

These seven will be the pioneer schools of the 2017 LVL Summer Term, with matches starting November 12 (Sunday) at 1:00 PM.

From 2017 Summer to 2018 Spring, Garena will be working with the LoL Varsity League (LVL) accredited campuses in building up their League esports scene not only in competition but also in events and in production. They LVL schools will be engaging in their own tournament separate from LoL Collegiate League.

The champion school will receive PHP 30,000 while the runner-up receives PHP 20,000. Garena’s partners at Lenovo Intel will also be adding the JBL T450BT Headphones for the champion players.

By 2018, the LoL Varsity League program wishes to grant esports scholarship grants to driven and inspiring League of Legends student players.
