Nintendo has found a way to address the major issue regarding its Malfunctioning Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons called “Joy-Con Drift” by providing free repairs.
“At Nintendo, we take great pride in creating quality products and we are continuously making improvements to them. We are aware of recent reports that some Joy-Con controllers are not responding correctly. We want our consumers to have fun with Nintendo Switch, and if anything falls short of this goal we always encourage them to visit http://support.nintendo.com so we can help,” Nintendo
The statement was released by the company shortly after receiving numerous reports of the Joy-Con Drift where the Nintendo Switch controllers are suddenly doing movements and inputting random commands to the game without the users even touching it. There also was a class-action lawsuit filed against Nintendo last July 19, 2019, because of this issue.
Vice has further investigated the matter and found out that Nintendo has issued an internal memo that the customer service should provide free service including repairs and shipping to Joy-Con Drift issues.
“Customers will no longer be requested to provide proof of purchase for Joy-Con repairs,”
“Additionally it is not necessary to confirm warranty status. If a customer requests a refund for a previously paid Joy-Con repair […] confirm the prior repair and then issue a refund,” said the internal customer service
There’s no word yet if the company will create a new set of JoyCons to fix the issue permanently.
