Blizzard unveils StarCraft: Remastered

The famous sci-fi strategy game StarCraft is now remastered in 4K Ultra High Definition and includes all content from the original game and its expansion, StarCraft: Brood War.

StarCraft has been one of the highest-rated, most-celebrated games of the RTS (real-time strategy) genre and with this remastered edition, the company has updated both graphics and audio while maintaining the essence of what made it a successful title. Blizzard also added in new features like advanced matchmaking, cloud saving, custom maps, social features, and more. The new StarCraft game will bring widescreen UHD support for up to 4K resolution and include new illustrations for the StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War campaign missions.

“With StarCraft: Remastered, we’re modernizing the original game’s visuals, audio, and online support to ensure that players can enjoy StarCraft for another 20 years and beyond, said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment.”

Blizzard is developing StarCraft: Remastered for Windows and Mac PCs and is anticipated to be released this summer, with pricing to follow.

“Prepare to venture once again onto the planetary battlefields of the war-torn Koprulu Sector; command the forces of the zerg, protoss, and terrans in their struggle for galactic domination; relive the epic saga of Marshal Jim Raynor, Kerrigan, and Praetor Fenix; or just vie for the GG against fellow players in this rejuvenated version of the online competitive RTS that set the bar for an entire genre.”
