Last March we saw the rise of a hybrid console in the form of the Nintendo Switch. It immediately put Nintendo back into the competition, but sadly during release, we only had a small library of games. Fast forward to today we now have a booming selection of games for the Switch.
And it might be a tad late but here were the top game releases for the console last month.
September was a pretty big month for the Switch as it received four Major game releases, well ports to be exact — Pokken Tournament DX, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition, and Lego Worlds.
Pokken Tournament DX
Perhaps the biggest release of the month, aside from Dragonball Xenoverse 2, is the console’s first ever Pokemon game, Pokken Tournament DX which was originally released on the Wii U back in 2015. In this game, our favorite pocket monsters battle it out in an arena-style 1 vs 1 or 3 vs 3 match-ups. Local and online play is supported and you can choose from 21 Pokemon and 32 Assist Pokemon to form your team. It garnered positive criticism from fans and Switch owners alike and provided the console with another solid fighting game. You can get the physical copy of the game at Datablitz or at GameOne PH/iTech for Php 2,750 or digitally for $59.99 (~Php 3,077.79) at Nintendo’s e-shop.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2
First released back in October of 2016 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, Dragonball has now made its way to the Nintendo Switch. This is the second iteration of the game to offer players an open-world kind of experience with larger than normal instance maps and battlegrounds. It’s a far cry from your standard Dragonball arena-style fighting game as it has co-op play but it does still offer that option should you wish to Kame-hame-ha your friends away. The game also offers great customizability as you will create your own character from the ground up. You will choose from among 5 different races (Earthling, Saiyan, Majin, Namekian, Frieza), Raise your stats, and choose your own sets of abilities. It is the perfect game to unleash your inner Saiyan while on the road or at home. Xenoverse 2 supports 6-player local and online play, including 3 vs 3 local versus matches. You can get the physical copy of the game at Datablitz or GameOne PH/iTech for Php 2,695 or digitally for $49.99 (~Php 2,564.74) at Nintendo’s e-shop.
Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition
Run, Jump, Crouch, and Smash your way through Ubisoft’s classic platformer. Rayman Legends was first released on PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360, and PC way back in 2013 and has now been ported to Nintendo’s Hybrid console. It received critical acclaim for its visuals, level design, controls, soundtrack, overall gameplay, and a large amount of content and has been branded by many as one of the best platform video game ever made, not to mention it also garnered multiple gaming awards. Aside from the normal solo running and jumping the game also offers Co-Op and competitive gameplay for up to 4 players. You’ll be able to relive your childhood with Rayman as the physical copy of the game is available at Datablitz or GameOne PH/iTech for Php 1,995 or digitally for $39.99 (~Php 2,051.69) at Nintendo’s e-shop.
Lego Worlds
Last but not the least is Warner Bro’s quirky sandbox Lego game Lego Worlds. First released back in March for PC, PS4, and Xbox One it has now built its way to the Nintendo Switch. Just like any sandbox game, take Minecraft for example, Lego Worlds gives its players the freedom to build in the world of Lego, players can do it freely or by choosing predefined Lego structures. Aside from building you would also be able to explore a vast world in vehicles like helicopters or on the back of creatures like dragons. Sadly the game is yet to offer online multiplayer but 2-player local co-op is available. You can buy the physical copy of the game at Datablitz or GameOne PH/iTech for Php 1,895 or digitally for $29.99 (~ Php 1,538.64) at Nintendo’s e-shop.
