GTA Online’s latest update has fans swarming to its new Left 4 Dead-style zombie mode, “Ludendorff Cemetery Survival.” In just 24 hours, over 400,000 players flooded the game to fight off the undead in this highly anticipated mode, set in the snow-covered town of North Yankton. This marks the first time players can freely explore this iconic location from GTA 5 without glitches, drawing widespread excitement.

Released on October 10, this zombie survival mode allows players to fend off waves of brain-hungry undead, reminiscent of the fan-favorite gameplay seen in titles like Left 4 Dead. The mode also offers a return to North Yankton, a location long associated with GTA 5’s opening heist involving Trevor and Michael. For years, players have been unable to explore North Yankton without using glitches, making this official return a major event.

Player data from GTAO Stats shows that over 400,000 players jumped into the new mode within the first day, and the number has surpassed one million in the days following. According to Rockstar insider Tez2, this player turnout is 270% higher than the previous event, “Assault on ATT-16.” The combination of nostalgia for North Yankton and the appeal of zombie survival seems to have hit the perfect note, bringing in massive numbers of GTA Online players.

Many fans are comparing the new mode to Rockstar’s 2010 “Undead Nightmare” DLC from Red Dead Redemption, which also featured zombie mayhem. With zombies, nostalgia, and GTA’s massive player base, “Ludendorff Cemetery Survival” is proving to be one of the most popular updates in GTA Online’s history.
