More Indiana Jones Games Rumored After Success of The Great Circle

Fans of Indiana Jones might soon have more adventures to look forward to, as reports suggest new games based on the iconic franchise are in development. This news follows the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, an action-adventure title from Bethesda Game Studios and MachineGames that has garnered critical praise despite facing mixed player engagement statistics.

According to known insider DanielRPK, multiple Indiana Jones games are reportedly in the works. While specific details, including genres and developers, remain scarce, the success of The Great Circle makes it likely that MachineGames, known for its work on the Wolfenstein series, is involved in at least one of these projects. Pete Ward, the studio’s Audio Director, previously indicated on LinkedIn that the team has been working on several unannounced titles. With The Great Circle now complete, attention may be shifting to these new developments.

Despite its strong reception, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle posted relatively modest concurrent player numbers. On Steam, the game reached an all-time high of 8,148 concurrent players—a figure noticeably lower than MachineGames’ earlier titles, such as Wolfenstein: The New Order (11,986) and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (16,141). For context, other recent Bethesda-published releases have performed significantly better; Starfield peaked at 24,863 concurrent players, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 soared to 104,891.

However, the lower numbers for The Great Circle might not tell the full story. The game launched as a day-one title on Game Pass, a factor that typically reduces Steam engagement, and its demanding ray-tracing requirements likely limited its accessibility. Additionally, an Early Access period may have diffused initial player interest.

The Indiana Jones franchise has proven to be a fertile ground for storytelling across various mediums, and its enduring popularity could make these upcoming games significant. Fans are speculating about potential genres for the new titles, ranging from first-person action to narrative-driven puzzle-solving adventures. Whatever the direction, the rich lore and thrilling escapades of the Indiana Jones universe offer endless opportunities for creative exploration.

For gamers, the prospect of more Indiana Jones adventures is exciting, particularly given the resurgence of action-adventure games in recent years. With MachineGames’ proven track record and Bethesda’s publishing expertise, the franchise seems poised to deliver more memorable experiences for players eager to don the iconic fedora and whip.
