Among Us 3D Brings First-Person Chaos to PC – No VR Required!

In a groundbreaking move, developer Innersloth has unveiled Among Us 3D, a fresh take on the widely acclaimed social deduction game, Among Us. This new iteration immerses players in a first-person perspective, eliminating the need for a VR headset and bringing the intense gameplay closer than ever before.

Among Us 3D builds upon the foundation laid by its predecessor, Among Us VR, which debuted in 2022. While the VR version required specialized equipment, Among Us 3D democratizes the experience, allowing PC gamers to dive into the treacherous world of Crewmates and Impostors without additional hardware. The core mechanics remain intact: players collaborate to complete tasks aboard a spacecraft while identifying and voting out the deceptive Impostors among them. The shift to a first-person viewpoint intensifies the suspense, making every encounter and task more immersive.

One of the standout features of Among Us 3D is its native proximity voice chat. This innovation enables real-time communication between players based on their in-game locations, fostering organic interactions and heightening the stakes during critical moments. Additionally, the game introduces new and revamped minigames tailored for first-person gameplay, ensuring both newcomers and veterans face fresh challenges.

Crossplay functionality is another significant addition, bridging the gap between PC and VR communities. Players on PC can seamlessly join lobbies with friends using VR devices such as Meta Quest, Steam VR, PlayStation VR2, and PICO, uniting the player base and enhancing the multiplayer experience. However, it’s important to note that Among Us 3D is not compatible with the original 2D version, as the gameplay dynamics differ substantially.

Customization remains a cornerstone of the Among Us experience. Among Us 3D expands on this by offering an extensive array of cosmetic options, including hats, gloves, and skins. Players can personalize their “Beansona” with countless combinations, expressing their unique style as they navigate the game’s challenges. To support this, a new in-game currency called “stardust” has been introduced, allowing players to acquire cosmetics without affecting gameplay balance.

For those eager to get a sneak peek, Among Us 3D offers a demo during Steam Next Fest: February Edition, running from February 24 to March 3, 2025. This limited-time demo provides a hands-on experience, though some features and game modes may be restricted. The full release is slated for later this year, promising a complete package of features and content.

In addition to the game’s developments, fans have more to look forward to. An Among Us animated series is currently in production, aiming to expand the game’s universe and delve deeper into its lore. This series is set to bring the game’s iconic characters and suspenseful scenarios to a new medium, offering fresh narratives for both longtime fans and newcomers.

Among Us 3D is poised to redefine the social deduction genre, blending familiar gameplay with innovative features that enhance immersion and player interaction. Whether you’re a seasoned Impostor or a first-time Crewmate, this new installment promises to deliver thrilling experiences in a vividly reimagined setting.
