Steam is set to give gamers even more bang for their buck as Valve announces a major upgrade to its Daily Deals program. In a detailed post on February 26, Valve revealed plans to expand the number of discounted games featured daily from four to six. This move is designed not only to attract a wider audience by showcasing a broader range of titles but also to provide smaller developers with even greater visibility on one of the world’s most popular digital storefronts.
Since its launch in 2003, Steam has grown into a dominant hub for PC gaming, continually breaking its own concurrent user records. While competing platforms like the Epic Games Store and GOG keep the market dynamic, Steam’s regular updates, massive seasonal sales, and innovative features have helped it remain a go-to destination for both blockbuster AAA titles and hidden indie gems. Originally conceived as a patch distribution tool, Steam has evolved into a beloved marketplace that offers gamers a unique way to discover new and classic games alike.
The expanded Daily Deals program is set to enhance this discovery process. Valve’s blog post highlighted that in 2024 alone, the Daily Deals helped over 2,800 games from more than 1,160 developers gain dedicated exposure on the Steam homepage. By increasing the daily offerings to six games, Valve aims to make it even easier for gamers to find great titles and for developers to reach new audiences. These deals, signified by the “Today’s deal” tagline within the “Special Offers” section, typically remain highlighted on the homepage for 24 hours, though some offers may extend beyond that period.
While the exact launch date for the expanded format hasn’t been confirmed yet, Valve’s recent confirmation of the full Steam sale schedule for 2025—including major events like the Spring sale on March 13 and the Summer sale on June 26—has set the stage for a year of exciting discounts and promotions. As Steam continues to refine its approach and innovate with new features, both gamers and developers can look forward to an even more vibrant and competitive marketplace.
