In a remarkable turn of events, Square Enix employees have uncovered a hidden cache of pristine retro video games, untouched for over two decades. This unexpected discovery offers a nostalgic glimpse into gaming’s rich history.
The revelation came when staff members opened an old storage container that had been sealed for nearly 20 years. Inside, they found a treasure trove of classic titles spanning various platforms, including the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Atari ST, DOS computers, N-Gage, Nintendo Wii, and Amstrad CPC.
Lee Singleton, head of Square Enix External Studios, shared a 30-second video of the find on LinkedIn, expressing excitement over the unearthed collection.

This discovery not only underscores the importance of archival preservation but also rekindles interest in the early days of gaming, reminding us of the industry’s evolution and the timeless appeal of these classic titles.
