With only days to go before its highly anticipated release, Nintendo has confirmed that Mario and Luigi: Brothership, the latest addition to the beloved Mario and Luigi RPG series, will require 9.9 GB of storage on the Nintendo Switch. Set for launch on November 7, this Switch-exclusive title is one of the most awaited releases this fall, bringing fans back into Mario and Luigi’s whimsical world after a five-year hiatus since the last entry in 2018.
Brothership marks a significant shift in the series, being the first game developed by a new team following the closure of original developer AlphaDream. Now co-developed by Acquire, the studio known for Octopath Traveler and Tenchu, the game promises to bring a fresh perspective while staying true to the RPG roots fans love.
According to an updated listing on Nintendo’s website, the file size of Brothership is a bit larger than anticipated, though fans previously saw an approximate estimate of 10 GB on the Japanese Nintendo eShop back in June. This puts Brothership ahead of other recent Mario RPG titles, like Super Mario RPG (6.5 GB) and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door (5 GB), though a larger file size doesn’t necessarily mean a longer game—more likely, it reflects the quality of visuals and added features fans can expect in this new adventure.
Despite releasing alongside other big titles this November, excitement is high for Brothership, particularly with the recent successes of Super Mario RPG and The Thousand-Year Door remakes, which both outsold their original versions. Fans are eager to see Mario and Luigi return to RPG form in what could be a memorable send-off for the Switch’s later years.
As the countdown to launch continues, fans can rest assured they’re in for a new and exciting chapter with Mario and Luigi just around the corner!
