LG has officially introduced the UltraGear GX7 (27GX790A), a groundbreaking 27-inch QHD (2,560 x 1,440) OLED gaming monitor boasting a 480Hz refresh rate and an impressive 0.03-millisecond response time. The announcement follows the debut of LG’s 480Hz OLED panel at CES 2024, where the company first showcased the technology but left consumers wondering if it would make it to production. Now, the UltraGear GX7 is here, claiming the title of the fastest QHD OLED monitor available.
The GX7 supports both NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync technologies to deliver smoother visuals by reducing screen tearing and flickering. It is certified with VESA’s DisplayHDR True Black 400, offering vibrant colors with a DCI-P3 98.5% color gamut and exceptional black levels for deeper contrast. To enhance usability, it features an anti-glare and low-reflection coating, ensuring consistent performance across diverse lighting environments.
Connectivity-wise, the monitor includes HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 inputs, alongside a headphone jack. Although these ports do not natively support 480Hz at QHD resolution, LG employs Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology to achieve the refresh rate, making it compatible with modern GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD. It also comes with an ergonomic stand offering height adjustment, 15 degrees of tilt, and 30 degrees of swivel for personalized comfort.
Priced at $1,000, the UltraGear GX7 undercuts its closest rival, Sony’s InZone M10S, by $100. While Sony’s offering includes unique features like enhanced enemy outlining and a simulated LCD mode for competitive gaming, LG’s monitor focuses on delivering raw speed and visual fidelity at a more accessible price. The UltraGear GX7 is now listed on LG’s official website, though pre-orders and shipping details remain unavailable.
